Temperature too high

This is one of the most frequent issues. It could be caused by a faulty thermostat, low refrigerant levels, compressor failure, or poor airflow around the condenser.

System not turning on

Often linked to electrical issues, such as tripped breakers, blown fuses, or loose wiring connections. Faulty thermostats or control boards can also be culprits.

Frequent cycling (turning on and off repeatedly)

May indicate thermostat calibration issues, an oversized system, or blocked air filters restricting airflow.

Ice build-up on evaporator coils

Caused by low refrigerant, blocked airflow, or malfunctioning defrost cycles. Ice can reduce cooling efficiency or stop it altogether.

Fan not working

Both evaporator and condenser fans are essential for airflow. Fan motor failure, dirt build-up, or broken blades can cause poor performance and overheating.

Leaks or pooling water

Blocked or damaged drain lines, failed defrost systems, or excessive condensation can result in water collecting inside or beneath the unit.

Unusual noises

Grinding, buzzing, or rattling sounds may suggest loose components, motor failure, or compressor issues—often early signs of a bigger problem.

Compressor overheating

Poor ventilation, dirty condenser coils, or refrigerant issues can cause the compressor to run too hot and eventually fail.

Bad smells from the unit

Often linked to stagnant water in the drain tray, mould build-up in damp areas, or spoiled product if the system has failed unnoticed.

Door seals not working (if present)

Worn or damaged gaskets allow warm air to enter, increasing the system’s workload and energy use.
